23/24 - Urinetown Fantastic show! TERRIBLE title!

Urinetown is a sidesplitting satirical musical that lambasts capitalism, environmental collapse, municipal politics, and doomed star-crossed love. (Doesn’t that sound HILARIOUS! Well, we promise it is!) This three-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been praised for reinvigorating the very artform known as musical theater. In a sprawling but collapsing urban metropolis, a 20-year drought has caused a catastrophic water-shortage that’s led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens of said metropolis must use public amenities owned and operated by an evil corporation that profits by charging admission to the most popular seat in the house, so to speak.

A hero will arise. A revolution will be sparked. And an unlikely love story will unfold.

But will any of it be enough to topple the corrupt and malevolent powers-that-be? Will the people ever again pee for free?!

Join us this fall for an irreverent but inspiring comedic romp like you’ve never seen at Town Hall Arts Center, before. Give it a chance, and this just might be your new favorite show. (With your least favorite title.)
