Loosely based on real life DJ legend Dewey Phillips.
Huey, a white man living in Memphis in the 1950’s, becomes obsessed with the Rock n’ Roll sound of Black musicians, particularly that of Felicia, a singer ready for her big break.
Huey makes it his mission to give the artists and their music air-time by becoming a DJ. No easy feat when all the radio stations are controlled by whites.
As romance blooms between Huey and Felicia, so does the popularity and acceptance of the music.
Can they overcome the racial bigotry of the times? Is music truly a universal unifier? Will music be able to unite people across seemingly unbridgeable divisions?
